Also you should have a bit of trouble finding neutral. I would check the inner hub bearing on the clutch hub. Had two of them go away and it was the hub bearing both times. According to the dealer, there was a defect from the bearing manufacturer. After rereading I think our situations are reversed. For me, clutch lever out = noise. Opposite for you.
